In the busyness of things it is easy to forget to spend time with God. We are often busy as teens, with school and homework; tests and exams; family and friends. We just put God on the backburner, or to the back of our mind. We go to church on Sundays, and weekly small group meetings, and assume that it is enough, and that we are being “good” Christians. In our generation and culture, we are so used to thinking that God equals going to church on Sundays, meeting once for Bible study somewhere in the week, pray before we eat, occasionally put money in the offering; and that equals a good Christian life.
But No! When God came to die for us, he came to die for US…not our time, not our money, not our prayers, nor our once in a while quote of scriptures on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/social media. He died so we could BE WITH HIM, have a RELATIONSHIP with Him, LOVE Him with our whole hearts, LIVE for Him!
In our generation and culture we have become so numb and blind to the real meaning of Christianity. Christianity isn’t a religion. It’s a relationship with Jesus! Where He comes first! He is our number 1! Our Lover, our BFF, our Father, Our EVERYTHING. God isn’t asking for more people to come to church to just sit there week after week only to listen to a “good” sermon, then go and live life like He is just an afterthought.
Jesus came to give us blessings, life, hope, peace, and EVERY good thing! But His heart’s cry is “My Child, My son, My daughter, come and talk to Me. Come and learn from Me, live your life for Me. Give your heart to Me, make Me your number one! I am peace! I am Joy! I am Fulfilment! I am Everything that you are looking for, and more! Just Talk with Me, Walk with Me, Listen to Me!”
Put God first over all else, and He will bless you more than you can ever imagine! Make Him your number one, and everything else will fall into place. Jesus is the reason for living. Jesus is the reason we have our being. Jesus is what remains when one day everything else will fade away. The earth and everything on it will cease to exist…but Jesus remains the same yesterday, today, and forever.
“Father God, Jesus! I choose to make You my number one in my life. I will honour You, praise You, and put You first in all I do. Help me, Jesus, to live my life for You. That I will have a personal and intimate relationship with You, where everything in my life changes! Thank You Jesus, for dying for me! Thank you for loving me! In Your name I pray, Amen.
"Do not say 'I am a youth,' for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you," says the Lord. - Jeremiah 1:7-8
Here God is talking to Jeremiah and telling Him that He has given him a special mission and purpose. God is calling him, and Jeremiah tells God that he is just a child. Jeremiah thought he was too young, too inexperienced, not qualified enough to speak to people older and people "smarter" than him. But here God says "Don't let your age stop you from following me with your whole heart and life! If you follow me I will give you the words to speak, the strategy to use, where to go, what to do, and help you every step of the way."
The next thing that God says is "Jeremiah do not be afraid of people, do not be afraid of people older than you, people with more degrees than you, more power than you, and more money than you.... Anyone and everyone I send to you, I will give you confidence and authority over them. So don't be afraid! Even if they try to hurt you, kill you, or cause you to be defeated and humiliated, I will defend you, help you, and deliver you!" God is faithful to save us in our trouble, and He will always help us when we do what He tells us to do.
Don't let your age, fear of what others think, or fear of failure and opposition stop you from living your life fully for God. Don't let excuses stop you from being who God made you to be. If you do what God tells to do, He will honour and help you to the very end.
"Moreover whom He (God) predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified." - Romans 8:30 (NKJV)
When God made us, He already had a special plan/calling for us. God predestined us, meaning He planned out us before He made us. God calls those who He made. God gives the talents, gifts, and justification/qualification for those that He called to His plan and purpose. And those who follow His plan for their lives, who He has already qualified, He will glorify and cause them to have success, and not fail or be humiliated.
God calls each and every one of us to an awesome and magnificent plan and purpose. We call this our calling. Our God given calling was already thought out by God for each person on earth. As believers in Christ, and youth who know that our lives here on earth is not for just existing but for living out our God-given mission, we know that we each individually have a special calling. And we are not too young to start living it out, and becoming the leader God called us to be.
A lot of times, we as young people, and even older people say "How can God use me? I am unqualified, I'm not worthy, I'm not smart enough, old enough, young enough, rich enough, educated enough"....... you get the picture. We let what we think of ourselves, and what other people think of us, define us. But God, the One who made you! He calls you more than enough, through Jesus, to finish the mission, and live out your calling. Don't disqualify yourself when God has already qualified you through Jesus.
When we are qualified and we accept the calling God gives to us, God will glorify us. Because when we understand that we have a purpose and we know that God says that through Jesus we are qualified and worthy to do it, God will glorify us, and give us success so we can fulfill the mission, and give glory to God.
God calls us. We have a purpose. Live your life to the glory of God.
Worship is a lifestyle. Everyone in the world worships something…money, fame, fortune, success, love, people…etc… Worship is when you serve something and express your love towards the object of worship. Mankind was made to worship. Originally God made us to worship Him, to love Him, honour Him, and have a personal one-on-one relationship with Him… But because of our sin, we have become separate from Him, resulting in our worship being redirected to something other then what was intended in the beginning… Of course Jesus came to restore our relationship with Him, but many people, including a lot of Christians, still worship and serve and put first in their lives other things and people apart from God.
God made us to worship Him. We were made to put God first in our lives…Love Him…Talk with Him…and Honour Him with everything in us, everything we are, and everything we have.
Worship is lifestyle. Worship in short is love expressed. Love expressed to the One who made us, loves us, and saved us.
How do we worship? We worship by putting God first in everything. Giving God our lives, and serving Him. Using our lives for God and His purpose for us, and not living it the way we want or for ourselves. Worship is when we show God our love for Him…through music (Praise and Worship), through our words (Prayer), through our actions, through what we watch, listen to, say, or do.
Who/what do you worship? Let your lives be a continual worship to Jesus Christ.
"Blessed is the person whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His (God's) law he/she meditates day and night." - Psalm 1:2 (Slight Paraphrase)
What you think about consistently or what you set your heart on, what your desire is.... is what will define, shape, or influence who you are, what you do, and how you live your life. If you spend your time thinking about God, the things of God, and the word of God, you will find that you will be closer to God, easier to fight temptations and sin, happier, have more peace, and your life will change for the better.
The word of God (The Bible) is food for our spirit, so the more we read and think about the word of God, the more "food" we are feeding our spirit. And the more food our spirit gets, the stronger our spirit will be.
God's blessing always follows those who love God, and who put God first in their lives. As children of God, and youth in Christ, we are to use our time, energy, talents, and strength for God. As people who love God and follow Him, God calls us to put Him first, to read His word, to think about Him, and set our eyes, minds, and hearts on Him.
Don't just read the bible and then forget about it, but read, it then take time through out the day to think about what you've read, and how you can apply it to your life. Let God's word change your life and shape you to become all that God made you to be.
